STRANGE DAYS

July 30, 2020

It’s hard to believe that July 2020 is nearly over. It’s also hard to wrap one’s mind around all that has already happened in this very, very strange year. So much of what has already happened has already been “memory-holed” as they say. Topics and issues just disappear. Newer and more disturbing ones come into view.

Is it possible that earlier this year we were on the brink of war with Iran? It seems that there was an impeachment as well – I barely remember it. By the end of March, we were sorting our way through the Chinese coronavirus, now called Covid-19. And one thing seemed certain: China would pay for inflicting this pandemic on the world. Or we would just let them take Hong Kong and reward them with support from U.S. companies and sports franchises. My head is perpetually shaking in disapproval.

And then protests… “mostly peaceful” protests that were anything but peaceful much of the time. Just look at Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, Chicago… And the ideology that has served Cuba, the Soviet Union and Venezuela so well, Marxism, is now deeply embedded in the entertainment industry, media, academia and politics. I guess it has been trending that way – but the mainstream narrative has totally latched on to it. But this is not how most Americans feel. Marxism and violence is not what most Americans want. But it seems to be what we’re getting.

Oh, and if memory serves, we are fewer than 100 days away from a presidential election. My guess is that “those who pull the strings,” (or who throw the rocks, light the fires and count corona virus cases) will do as much as possible to keep the chaos going, to make sure that people struggle for jobs, stay locked down, separated, masked up and out of church. But liquor stores are still essential.

But lest you get discouraged, rest assured that Bill Gates is working tirelessly on a vaccine for the Corona – and surely nothing will go wrong with that. Just look at his previous track record with viruses on computer operating systems. Once a vaccine does make its appearance on the world stage, I am very curious as to how many people will be inclined to take it. Which brings me to this lovely quote that I recently found. The statement is 103 years old, but seemed oddly appropriate for our very strange days. Referring to the Counsel of Constantinople in 1912, Rudolf Steiner wrote this in 1917:

“The time will come…when people will say: It is pathological for people to even think in terms of spirit and soul.

‘Sound’ people will speak of nothing but the body. It will be considered a sign of illness for anyone to arrive at the idea of any such thing as a spirit or a soul. People who think like that will be considered to be sick and — you can be quite sure of it — a medicine will be found for this.

The soul will be made non-existent with the aid of a drug. Taking a ‘sound point of view’, people will invent a vaccine to influence the organism as early as possible, preferably as soon as it is born, so that this human body never even gets the idea that there is a soul and a spirit.”

God help us. Click the video below and take a look back at the last seven months. Until next time.
